About La Force
La Force (b. 1983) is a distinguished multimedia artist specializing in painting and collage. She graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Painting from the State University of New York College at Potsdam in 2007, followed by a Master of Fine Arts from the School of the Museum of Fine Arts in conjunction with Tufts University in 2012.
In her paintings, La Force employs oil on panel to craft intimately detailed portraits that transcend traditional flattery. Instead, her work confronts and challenges the idealized self-perceptions of her subjects, unveiling aspects of beauty that are often overlooked or under-appreciated.
Contrasting with her meticulous paintings, her collages are driven by humor and spontaneity, embodying playful and intuitive exploration of her artistic impulses. This dichotomy between the disciplined precision of her painting and the liberating unpredictability of her collage work creates a harmonious balance within her broader creative practice.
La Force continues to live and work in Massachusetts.
